Dear members of the Brookvale Community,

Please consider attending the Brookvale PTA Meeting on Tuesday, October 9, 2018, at the Brookvale MPR. You will be able to meet Brookvale Elementary School’s counselor, Ms. Tanaka, and also have the opportunity to meet some of the School Board candidates for this upcoming election. School Board candidates attending:

Fahria Khan
Larry Sweeney, Current Trustee
Norman Howell
Hiu Ng

(Candidates confirmed as of Oct 2, 2018. We will update this list if/when we receive confirmation from any other candidates.)

This is a moderated forum and your questions will be curated by the organizing committee and addressed accordingly. Please send your questions in an email to parlimentarian@brookvalepta.com by Sunday at 5pm. Questions can be handed in at the door before the forum starts, as well. A typical forum allows for about 5 questions with each candidate limited to a 90 second response.

  • Incoming 6th graders in year 2021/22
  • Student population forecasted to increase from 1,350 to 1,910 by the Long Range Facilities Plan and updated to peak at 2,174 (current long term population trend)
  • 2017 implementation plan budget was based on LRFP enrollment of 1,910
  • Modernize a 55-year-old campus
  • Transform campus and create 21st- century learning environment

The First Brookvale PTA Family Potluck Picnic is just around the corner!

Where: Los Cerritos Community Park (3377 Alder Ave).
When: Saturday, Sept 22, 11:00 AM to 2:00PM

Let’s come together and enjoy some fun in the sun! Meet other Brookvale families and learn more about what the Brookvale community is all about!

Please bring some food of your choice ,enough to share with 6 to 8 people:

If your last name begins with A-E, please bring a side dish or appetizer
If your last name begins with F-J, please bring an entree
If your last name begins with K-O, please bring a dessert or beverages
If your last name begins with P-T, please bring an entree
If your last name begins with U-Z, please bring a salad or vegetable dish

PTA will provide water, cutlery and plates. We will be setting up on the tables near the gazebo by the play structure.

We look forward to seeing you and your family! Feel free to bring along a picnic mat to relax on the grass!

2018-19 Reflections Art Competition

 

Promote creative arts, exhibit kids’ artistic talents!

Entry deadline: Monday, October 22, 2018 3pm

The arts—and National PTA Reflections—support student success and serve as a valuable tool for engaging families and building strong partnerships in the school community. Founded in 1969, Reflections engages nearly 300,000 students and their families in arts education activities each year by encouraging students to explore the arts for fun and recognition.

Pre-Kindergarten through grade 12 students are encouraged to submit original works of art in one or more of the six areas listed below. Only original works of art are accepted.

  • Literature
  • Photography
  • Dance Choreography
  • Musical Composition
  • Visual arts
  • Film Production

Qualified art work will be moved up from the school level of competition to FUSD, Peralta district, California, and national PTA level.

Brookvale PTA endeavors to enrich student’s education experience by promoting music, art, cultural awareness, fitness, S.T.E.M. etc. Don’t miss this opportunity to exhibit your kids’ artistic talent!

To participate, please complete the steps below:

  • Download and print the Reflections2018_packet (PDF): Checklist, Entry Form and Rules, and Practical Tips for Parents
  • Fill out the Google Parent Contact Form 
  • You may submit final artwork to our Google Drive folder. Please put your submission in the appropriate folder for your student’s age group.
