Membership contest winners!

We have three classrooms that have over 80% PTA membership, and have won Popsicle parties! Congratulations to:

  • Mrs. Strickland’s class
  • Mrs. Chug’s class
  • Mrs. Maciel’s class

We also have six (six!!) classrooms that have 100% PTA membership, and have won both a pizza and Popsicle party! Congratulations to:

  • Mrs. Ashford’s class
  • Mrs. Garcia’s class
  • Mrs. Schilling’s class
  • Mrs. Diaz’s class
  • Mrs. DeCastro’s class
  • Mrs. Muñoz’s class

And congratulations to all the families at Brookvale! We currently have a total of 397 PTA members, which is 33 more than we had last year. A very big THANK YOU  to everybody who has joined!

For those who haven’t yet, remember it is never too late to join. There are always extra envelopes in the school office, and a classroom can reach either the 80% or 100% goals at any time during the school year.

Back to School Night

Back to School Night is Tuesday, September 16th at 6pm. It is a perfect opportunity to drop off your PTA membership envelope if you haven’t already! (And there will be extras available in the MPR just in case).

So far, we have over 300 members who have joined. Four classes have won a popsicle party (80% membership), and another four classes have won both a pizza and popsicle party (100% membership). Thank you to our wonderful community for supporting us!

Become a PTA Member

A big thank you to all the families who have already joined the PTA! For those of you still deciding, here are a few things to keep in mind:

  • Every class that has 80% of the families join the PTA will win a popsicle party for the kids. Every class that reaches 100% membership will win a pizza AND popsicle party!
  • The California State PTA has coupons for Baskin Robbins and Legoland for us to distribute to families.
  • There is no volunteer obligation or time commitment required. Joining the PTA simply means more money for Brookvale to use to enrich our students’ education.

Thank you for your support! Membership dues are $10 per person, and additional envelopes are available in the school office.

Welcome back to school!

I hope everyone had a wonderful summer. I’m Mrs. Diaz, your PTA President for 2014-15. The PTA is excited, looking forward to another school year filled with fun activities. We are ready for our Movie Nights, Carnivals, family nights, F.A.M.E., Talent Show, and a whole lot more.

I’m looking forward to working with the PTA this year and I  am grateful to be learning about the complexities of the position from Mrs. Ashford. I have  taught for 22 years for Hayward and Fremont Unified School Districts as well as teacher education for the University of San Diego and ESL at Ohlone College. My M.A. is in LInguistics and I enjoy designing programs to meet the special needs of EL learners. I have two primary school children here in Fremont. I have a strong background in the performing arts and my family has a non-profit cultural society here in the Bay Area promoting the art of flamenco dance. My vision for Brookvale is a place where children can develop their intellectual and artistic abilities in a loving environment with a strong focus on service to the community and stewardship of the earth. I’m looking forward to a great year and meeting new members of our community!

If you are interested in being involved with the Brookvale PTA, we have many opportunities. We have monthly meetings in the library on the second Tuesday of each month to discuss the programs and activities at our school. We also have a Room Parent program to help communicate to parents how they can help out. Whether you are available during the day to help with F.A.M.E., our parent run art program, or you are available in the evenings to help with our family nights—we have the perfect place for you.
