Just a reminder that our next PTA meeting is on Tuesday, October 14th at 7pm in the school library.

Please email Julie at julie_hawkins81@yahoo.com if you would like to request ASL interpretation at our next PTA meeting. (Thank you, Julie!)

Walk and Roll to School Day – October 8th
Join the fun on Walk and Roll to School Day Wednesday, October 8th 2014
The students, parents, and teachers at Brookvale Elementary School will celebrate International Walk & Roll to School Day on Wednesday, October 8th, 2014. This is a great opportunity to celebrate our health, the environment, and our school spirit. We’re encouraging every student to participate.
What’s going on?
- Morning Commute Walking School Bus Groups
- Bike parking at the bike racks; helmets required, bring your own lock
- Giveaways for kids
- A school-wide mode chart to see how we get to school
If you live nearby:
Walk with one of the parent-led walking school bus groups. Groups will meet at the following locations at 8:10am to allow plenty of time for walking and enjoying the morning festivities:
- On Isherwood at the end of the greenbelt pathway
- On Alder at the entrance to Los Cerritos parking lot
- On Nicolet and Caxton
Please let Nicole Rush (Nic0lerush@yahoo.com) know if you can assist by being the “leader” for one of these location. We would like at least 2 parents per location.
Or just walk or bike with your child on your own schedule.
If you live farther away:
- Bike with your child.
- Take the bus with your child and walk from the bus stop.
- Carpool with another family. Spare the environment and reduce morning stress for yourself: connect with other families who live in your neighborhood.
- Park and walk – join one of the walking school buses listed above.
