Reflections Art Program 2017-18

Reflections Art Program 2017-18

2017 PTA Reflections Art Program Theme:
“Within Reach”

Student artwork due by Friday Oct 27, 2017

The National PTA Reflections Program is an arts recognition and achievement program for students. Participation in the Reflections Program is a great way for students to express themselves through various art forms. Creating art is a valuable learning process that challenges students to use their critical thinking skills as well as their creative talents to create art that supports a specific theme.

Students may submit entries in any of the six arts areas listed below. Only original works of art are accepted. Students may enter one piece in as many arts areas as they wish to participate in, from the following six categories.

  • Literature
  • Photography
  • Dance Choreography
  • Musical Composition
  • Visual arts
  • Film Production

Each art area has specific guidelines. To receive guidelines and entry form, either email Uthra (uthra.srinivasan@gmail.com) or Kiran (kiranrg6@gmail.com).You can also fill out request for entry online.

September 19th – Choir Registration

September 19th – Choir Registration

Brookvale PTA is delighted to continue sponsoring a student choir this Fall. Students in choir will not only learn to appreciate music and teamwork, but they will have an opportunity to perform for a live audience at the end of the program.

Registration begins Tuesday, September 19, 2017 at 7:00 am

Register at Brookvale PTA Choir Fall 2017 Registration Form

Classes: Tuesdays 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
First class: September 26, 2017
Last class: February 27, 2018
NO CLASS: 10/31, 11/14, 11/21, 12/19, 12/26, 01/02

Who runs the weekly choir sessions?
Our Choir Director is Karen Madsen, who is a Brookvale mom and parent volunteer. While living in Denmark, she was a professional Choir Director. Mrs. Madsen has graciously agreed to lead choir again this year so that she can share her passion of music with Brookvale students.

Who can apply to participate in choir?
All Brookvale students in Grades 4 to 6 may apply. No singing experience is required, but a keen interest on the student’s’ part is necessary! Remember, students can only benefit from this program while having fun if they themselves want to be part of it.

Brookvale PTA has tentative plans to sponsor a Spring Choir, open to the primary grade levels. Spring is dependent on parent volunteering and room availability. Information about a spring session will communicated at a later date.

How many students will make up the choir?
Because of space constraints, Brookvale PTA will be enrolling a maximum of 30 students to this program. The first 30 completed student applications submitted correctly will be enrolled.

Brookvale Choir Rules:
Please review these rules before submitting an application. Failure to follow these rules may result in the student being dismissed from the Brookvale Choir program:

  1. Parents/Guardians are required to attend the first day of class with their student.
  2. Parents are required to provide adult supervision immediately at the end of choir class. The Choir Director and Brookvale PTA are not responsible for children before 3:00pm and after 4:00pm.
  3. Students who miss more than 2 sessions may be asked to leave the choir so that another student can benefit from this program.
  4. Be respectful to each other and the classroom in which it will take place. Students may not run or play in the classroom or cause damage to any parts of the classroom.
  5. Have fun!
